Fadista Miguel Xavier has a new album, that debuts him in the Portuguese fado world, and presents it, this afternoon, live in Jornal de Notícias newsroom. You can follow live through Facebook and Instagram.
In this first album, Miguel Xavier recorded three Alexandre O’ Neil poems, between other authors, and redeemed themes from Camané, Max and Carlos Ramos repertoires. From Alexandre O’Neil he used “Soneto Inglês”, and “O Tejo Corre no Tejo”, played by Filipe Teixeira; and still “Um Carnaval”, with Luís Figueiredo composition.
“The feeling, the way each fadista sings, each one with each of their peculiarity’s” are the words of the fadista that inspired Miguel and motived him to sing, that listens “since a child”, and gave him “chills”, even “without understanding some words”. The album has in its back cover a big compliment to Camané, his godfather from profission.
Miguel Xavier has 23 years and considers himself a “traditional fadista”. Between his fadistas references he quotes Amália Rodrigues, Alfredo Marceneiro, Alcino de Carvalho, António Mourão, Manuel de Almeida e António Rocha.
